GOLD MINING NEEDS MARSHAL PLAN – FINANCIAL ANALYST

A MARSHAL plan is needed to manage Kasenseli gold site in Mwinilunga if Zambians are to truly benefit from the precious mineral, Financial Analyst Mambo Haamaundu has said.

Mr Haamaundu urged Government to engage the community at Kaseseli Gold mine in Mwinilunga so that it clearly understood their capabilities and possibilities of engaging them.

He said Government should also take interest and look at the people who want to be shareholders if at all they had the capacity to run the mine.

Mr Haamaundu said Government should come up with a marshal plan on how well to manage Kasenseli gold site.

He said the state should analyse the financial capacity of people who were eyeing Kasenseli and how they would work with the locals.

Mr Haamaundu explained that Gold could only be beneficial to the nation as a whole if government devised a proper plan to manage its production.

“It will not make any sense if those people who are crying out loud to have shares in the mine do not have sufficient resources because running a Gold mine needs a lot of resources, money and equipment,“ he said.

Mr Haamaundu said the entire production had to be looked at closely in order for the state to make informed decisions.

He advised gGovernment to make thorough engagements with stakeholders so that amicable solutions to the challenges impeding growth in the sector could be found.
