Mulenga, Banda honoured…Goodfellow, Chief Puta gifts Chipolopolo stars land and cash

SENIOR Chief Puta of the Wile people of Chiengi has gifted Chipolopolo goal keeper Lawrence Mulenga and midfielder Emmanuel Banda one hectare each at the beach in his chiefdom for their impressive showing in the 3-0 thumping of Ivory Coast last Saturday.


The chief, who was accompanied by Chief Twaileka hailed the Chipolopolo stars for their hard work during the crucial game which guaranteed Zambia’s return to the Africa Cup of Nations.
And Chief Twaileka encouraged them to continue working hard to make the country proud after qualifying for the Africa Cup.
“Though we are in a remote area we follow football and what we want to encourage the team through FAZ is to bring glory because it brings happiness and unites us whenever Zambia wins,” Chief Twaileka said.
The chief noted the need for the Chipolopolo and the Copper Queens to take football as a business which is closely followed by millions of Zambians.
Meanwhile, Goodfellow Finance have awarded Chipolopolo goalkeeper Mulenga who was voted fan’s man of the match during the game which was played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium which was filled to the rafters as Zambia shocked Ivory Coast.
Good Fellow Finance Chief Executive Officer Ivor Muluba said the awarding of the K15, 000 cheque to Mulenga as the people’s choice was done through a neutral process that saw the most outstanding player voted by the fans.
“We would like to appreciate our goalkeeper and the team for the performance. When we saw on social media people posting that the goalkeeper was outstanding we thought of giving back,” Muluba said.
Mulenga hailed the two chiefs and Goodfellow Finance for recognising his contributions to the national team.
The Power Dynamos shot stopper who also helped the Kitwe giants win the 2022-2023 MTN/FAZ Super League said the rewards would inspire him to continue working hard to maintain his position in the team.
Meanwhile, FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga hailed Chief Puta, Chief Twaileka and Goodfellow Finance for empowering the two players.
Kamanga urged other corporate bodies to come on board and support the various national teams which includes the Copper Queens who qualified for the 2023 FIFA World Cup slated to kick off next month in Australia and New Zealand.
