By KETRA KALUNGA

THE Electricity Cost of Service Study which was supposed to end this month has been extended to facilitate the review of the report, says Minister of Energy, Matthew Nkhuwa.

It aims to establish the cost of different elements of services provided by Zesco Limited from powerr generation to wheeling and the cost of supplying different customers.

Mr. Nkhuwa said the UK-based consultants, Energy Market and Regulatory have asked for more time to facilitate for the review of the report by different stakeholders.

He said in an interview that the extension period has been prompted by several challenges among them the Covid-19 pandemic and review of the report by various stakeholders.

“They have requested an extension due to several challenges including the Covid pandemic affecting the consultants and the review of the report by the different stakeholders,” Mr. Nkhuwa said.

He said however that the conclusion period of the report would not exceed the third quarter of the year.

And energy expert, Johnson Chikwanda said the when done, the study would help minimise the mistrust among critical players in the energy sector.
