THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday spent almost the whole day interrogating Roan PF Member of Parliament and former Information minister Chishimba Kambwili over alleged corrupt practices.

In November last year, the ACC confirmed placing Mr Kambwili under probe over various properties allegedly accumulated illegally during his time in Government.

The ACC said yesterday the commission recorded a statement from the Roan lawmaker and that the next action would be communicated to the public once investigations were done.

The investigations into Mr Kambwili began a few days after President Edgar Lungu warned that he would fire all ministers engaged in corruption.

In an interview with the Daily Nation yesterday, ACC public relations manager Timothy Moono confirmed the interrogation, saying Mr. Kambwili was under probe for corrupt practices.

Mr. Moono said the commission summoned Mr. Kambwili to interview and allow him to give his side of the story on the alleged corrupt practices.

“Following recent media queries on whether the Anti-Corruption Commission was conducting investigations on alleged corrupt practices against Hon. Chishimba Kambwili, former Information and Broadcasting minister, I wish to inform you that there has been an inquiry against Hon. Kambwili on allegations of corrupt practices and he was today being questioned,” he said.

He said the commission recorded a statement from the Roan lawmaker and that the next course of action would be communicated to the public once investigations were completed.

“Yes, on the principle of fairness, the Anti-Corruption Commission summoned Hon. Chishimba Kambwili, former Information and Broadcasting minister, to interview him on alleged corrupt practices. ACC wanted to hear his (Kambwili) side of the story and make some assessment over the matter at hand.
