20 HURT IN MASAITI ROAD MISHAP

ABOUT 20 passengers among them pupils from Masaiti Boarding School yesterday survived a serious road traffic accident with multiple injuries while two escaped unhurt.
Police spokesperson, Esther Katongo said the accident occured around 15:00 hours along Masaiti-Luanshya road involving a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle when the driver, Mr George Mwenda lost control.
Ms Katongo said Mr Mwenda, aged 47 of Mikomfwa in Luanshya sustained a fractured right arm.
“The accident happened when the said motor vehicle was being driven from Masaiti to Luanshya town in the process, the driver lost control and flipped due to excessive speed,” she said in a statement.
Ms Katongo said two victims were in Roan Hospital, three in Thomson Hospital while the rest had been discharged.
