GEOFFREY Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) should be a man and come out of the hole he has been hiding in as he risks losing the respect people have so far accorded him as a leader, 3rd Liberation Movement (3rd LM) president Enoch Tonga has advised.

Mr Tonga said that Mr Mwamba was disappointing the people who had looked up to him as a leader by hiding when the police had not indicated that they were looking for him.

He reiterated that the UPND vice president for administration was supposed to show people that he was capable of facing his enemies.

Mr Tonga said in an interview with Daily Nation that a leader was supposed to stand firm and be ready to defend his people no matter the circumstances.

He warned that followers quickly lost their respect in leaders who exhibited cowardice and proved that they were not ready to “die” for them.

Mr Tonga advised Mr Mwamba to come out of hiding so that he could provide leadership to his people.

“GBM now risks losing respect from the people who have come to believe in him. A leader is not supposed to behave this way, let him man up and come out of hiding. No one said they are looking for him, why hide?” he questioned.

Mr Tonga said that hiding had never been a solution to any problem and Mr Mwamba was supposed to show leadership.

He wondered what kind of a leader Mr Mwamba was to be on the run when no one was actually pursing him.

Mr Tonga said that UPND supporters needed guidance while their leader Hakainde Hichilema was in incarceration.

He warned that Mr Mwamba would be blamed in the case that UPND supporters became violent because he was supposed to keep them in check. “UPND supporters need leadership now more than ever but who is going to guide them since the next in line is on the run. One even wonders who is pursuing him, this kind of leadership is laughable” said Mr Tonga.
