ZANACO head coach Mumamba Numba has declared his team ready for Saturday’s CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter against Gambia Armed Forces FC.

Numba said his team was well prepared to kick-off the 2018 CAF Champions League campaign.

Speaking from Zimbabwe after the Bankers lost 2-1 to Chicken Inn on Friday, the Zambian tactician was impressed with the players’ endurance levels.

He said Chicken Inn was a formidable side with fast -paced strikers which awakened the Zanaco defenders.

Numba said the Zimbabwe outing was a success as they achieved the set objective.

“Chicken Inn gave Zanaco the much-needed fitness, they have good pace upfront which saw us concede the second goal. I have no doubt that the team is now ready and set to face the Gambian side next week,” he said.

He said the team’s target was to win the opening leg at home to have the advantage when they travel to Gambia a week later.

Numba said he would not underrate the Gambian league champions because there were no minnows in football now.

“The target is to beat our opponent in Lusaka, as a draw or loss would be costly for us,” he said.

Gambia Armed Forces, who scooped their third Gambian top flight league title last season, will be entering into Africa’s top club competition for the second time since 2010.

Meanwhile, Zambia’s CAF Confederation Cup envoys Nkana yesterday played to a goalless draw against Platinum of Zimbabwe.

The Kitwe giants who are in Zimbabwe for a training camp had a struggled to penetrate the Stars backyard.

Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi said the game was a good test for his lads as the fight regain full fitness.
