PeP races to beat petition deadline

WE are not panicking and will manage to push in our petition before Friday which is the last day of filing in our petition, Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP), has said.

PeP president, Sean Tembo, said that the reason they had stuck to petitioning the elections was that their supporters were attacked while at St Patrick’s Primary School School.

Mr Tembo said that he was aware that the deadline for filing petitions was two weeks and that Friday was the deadline but that they were on course.

“I know the last day is Friday, but what I can assure you is that we are going to file  our petition because so many factors have indicated that the elections were not free and fair,” he said.

He said violence was the biggest reason why they were petitioning the results because the ruling party were using brutality to ascend to power.

Mr Tembo said that he was very confident that the courts of law would critically look into the matter and ensure that justice prevailed.

He said his party would not let the UPND go scot-free after allegedly committing electoral malpractices in the just ended Kabwata parliamentary by-elections.

Two parties have contested the results of the Kabwata by-election including the PF who claim political malpractices by the ruling UPND.
