CAR dealers operating in front of Government complex next to Kamwala mosque will not be relocated now because Lusaka City Council (LCC) are still looking for an alternative place to relocate them, says Lusaka mayor Wilson Kalumba.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Kalumba said the local authority was still looking for a permanent place where the car dealers would be conducting their business.

Mr Kalumba explained that the car dealers would not be there permanently, adding that once the place was found they would be relocated.

Mr Kalumba said Kamwala Museum area was among the eight places that were identified by the local authority although it was working hard to ensure that they were re-allocated on a permanent place.

Mr Kalumba appealed to car dealers to continue adhering to personal hygiene and ensure that they operated in a conducive place with proper sanitary conditions failure to which they risked being removed.

He said the move to remove the car dealers from Central Business District (CDB) was an effort to retain sanity in the city and completely eradicate the outbreak of cholera.

And Mr Kalumba has reminded shop owners who have not yet painted their shops and put pavers on their corridors to do so because the enforcement was still active.

Mr Kalumba said the council was still waiting for shop owners to follow the directive and failure to which the law will apply.

He said LCC will continue providing good quality service to the people once they work together as stakeholders.

He said painting and putting pavers in corridors was another way of keeping Lusaka clean as well as combating water-borne diseases.
