‘GOVT HAS NO POWERS TO STRIP OFF EDGAR LUNGU’S BENEFITS’

LEADER of opposition in Parliament Brian Mundubile says Government has no powers to strip off former President Edgar Lungu’s benefits.

In an interview, Mr Mundubile says the government cannot decide when the former President’s benefits can be removed.

The Patriotic Front Mporokoso Member of Parliament says there is an Act of Parliament that stipulates on what grounds a former President can be stripped of is benefits. To Pg 3

Mr Mundubile was reacting to sentiments by Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe that Government plans to remove Mr Lungu’s benefits because his still in active politics.

Meanwhile, Mr Mundubile said the former head of state has the right to react to the injustice against his family.

He said doing so does not mean that his still in active politics but is simply concerned with what is happening to his family.

Mr Mundubile also said the former head of state deserve some respect unlike what is happening.

He said history will repeat itself if President Hakainde Hichilema leaves office.

Mr Mundubile said those in government need to know that political power comes to an end, therefore, they will be treated like the way they are treating others.
