Zambia is not broke – Cosmo

By GIDEON NYENDWA

The UPND government is trying to blindfold the people of Zambia by continuously telling them that the country has no money when there is a lot that the country generates on a daily basis, National Revolution Party (NRP) Leader Cosmo Mumba has said.

Dr. Mumba said no one should lie to the people that this country does not have money because there was a lot of money that was generated every day from taxes, levies, ground lets, duties and what Zambia Revenue Authority collects from the borders.

He said if the coffers were really empty as they were painting to be then where was the money the president was using to travel around coming from.

“In only Three months that the UPND has been in power, he has travelled multiple times out of this country and the trips are not cheap,” he said.

Dr. Mumba said there was no way the government could be saying that they had no money when the country had daily sources of income like toll gates and other fees that were being generated by the council.

He said what the UPND government was trying to do was to gain sympathy from the people by telling them that the country had no money.

Dr. Mumba also said that the narrative being propelled by the new regime that this country was left with nothing was just doing more harm than good.

“What they are saying is denting our image even more,” he said.

He said the new government was going to achieve nothing if they continued putting the blame of everything that was happening on the previous government because time was ticking.

“Let them continue talking about PF, they will realize it when their five years is up,” he said.

Dr. Mumba said if the minister of Finance was to do a ministerial statement on how much this country makes per day people could be shocked.
