UPND COUNCILLOR EJECTED – LET HIM LEAVE MY VILLAGE WITHIN A WEEK SAYS KASAMU
By SIMON MUNTEMBA
UPND Kafue’s Kabweza Ward Councilor, Justin Singoyi has been given one week to pack his belongings and leave Kasamu Village by the Headman for allegedly being a “nuisance”.
Village Headman Kasamu said he did not want to see Mr Singoyi in his village because he not only disrespected him but also accused him of having ganged up with the community members to fight him because he was the “wrong” tribe.
But Mr Singoyi said he would not go anywhere because the area was no longer a traditional land but belonged to the State.
Headman Kasamu told the Daily Nation in an interview that Mr Singoyi had been campaigning against him, by telling the people that he was against him being re-elected as area Councillor in the last general elections.
“Since he is claiming that I am fighting him with other Community members, let him leave my village and settle in other villages within.
“I don’t want him in my village. Let him pack and go. He is not respecting me and how would I keep such a person in my village. Since he claims that the other 12 headmen are supporting him, let him go to one of them and settle there, I don’t want him in my village,” Headman Kasamu said.
He said, he would never allow a ‘crooked’ Councillor in his village.
“Instead of responding to what people are complaining about him, he is accusing me of being against him. Can he tell the people why he has kept an incubator to himself which was donated to the Community a few years ago? Where did he take the money that he asked people to donate for the borehole?
“And you think any sensitive Headman would want to keep such a person in the village? Please, let him leave my village,” he said.
And when contacted for a comment, Mr Singoyi said the Headman was wasting his time to ask him to leave the area because it was not his.
“That Headman is just useless. He has no village to talk about, this area is on title deeds. It is no longer traditional land,” Mr Singoyi said.
Recently, Mr Singoyi complained that Headman Kasamu had ganged up with other people in the area against him because he was regarded as an outcast.
He accused village Headman Kasamu and others of fighting him with all sorts of accusations just because their preferred candidate who hailed from the area was not adopted by UPND and lost the last elections where he stood as an independent candidate.
