MANAGER of Malawian boxer Ruth Chisale, Steve Msiska has described Zambia’s Rolita Muzeya’s defence of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Welterweight championship a big mockery in the boxing sport.

Msiska said Muzeya did not deserve to retain the WBC championship as she was clearly beaten by his boxer.

Speaking in an interview after the fight, Msiska said that his boxer was robbed as she out-boxed Muzeya.

“This is day light robbery. We have been robbed which is not good for the sport. Everyone has seen. People who are not judges have seen,

“Promoting someone who is not a winner is not good for the sport and it will not take you anywhere by stealing. The truth of the matter is that Ruth won,” Msiska said.

Meanwhile Muzeya who defended her belt on split points decision after eight rounds of exchanging punches with the Malawian boxer said she was proud for having defended her belt.

She noted that victory over Chisale had given her an opportunity to challenge for the WBC Gold championship.

“The winner is judged by the judges.

Ruth is a good fighter, she gave me a tough fight but I’ve proved to her that I’m a better boxer. I feel good, this victory has given me the opportunity to go for the WBC Gold title,” Muzeya said.

Meanwhile, former WBC bantam weight champion Catherine Phiri redeemed herself from her defeat of WBC super-bantamweight champion by Fatuma Zarika recently when she knocked out Rukia Nasirite of Kenya in her non-title bout at the same tournament.

Phiri knocked out Nasirite within a minute of the second round of the six rounds.

“I wanted the fight to go up to the final round so that fans could watch because it has been long since I fought at home. It’s unfortunate that the fight had to end in the second round but I respect all boxers and she is a good boxer,” Phiri said.

In another bout Congolese born Mbiya Nkanku of Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions knocked out Ali Kabeya of Exodus Boxing Promotions in a tightly contested light-middle weight fight.
