Leaders should respect Church-Lungu

LEADERS must respect the church and not use it for their political ambition, President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu instead asked the church to pray for leaders so that they are guided by God in their governance.

He said those who seek power must do it in the interest of serving the people because God was above all. “It is my prayer that the church prays for me in my governance.

I must confess that we are nothing without the Love of God,” he said. President Lungu yesterday congregated at Mongu New Apostolic Central Church presided over by Apostle Ingombe Ananyetele.

He said as a leader, he respects the church and that it was vital as President to seek God’s guidance.

“We go to church and we

respect the church and we do not come to church for politics but as the President, l need to pray with people and l cannot be praying at home alone,” he said.

He advised the church to pray for those with other different ideas to make them understand that all comes from God.

The Head of State made it clear to the people not to give space to the prophets of doom but instead should ask God for wisdom for their betterment.

President Lungu promised the people of Mongu that he would visit them at an appropriate time, saying his coming to Mongu was to celebrate the Kuomboka and not political.

“I was supposed to leave this morning but l saw it important to pray with you today because Palm Sunday is an important event, and God has allowed it and we should also allow him to be in our hearts,” he said.

The Head of State also thanked God for the peaceful Kuomboka traditional ceremony celebrations.

President Edgar Lungu was in Mongu where he went to grace this year’s Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people.

And the congregation Apostle Ananyetele wished President Lungu wisdom and good health in his governance.
