IT is unfortunate that some people think telling lies about the security situation in Zambia will increase their political fame, a South Africa-based Zambian businessman has observed.

Prophet Gaius Kambita said the negative image being portrayed about Zambia had the potential to damage the country’s attractiveness to investment opportunities.

Prophet Kambita said it was unfortunate to hear Zambians spread lies about the prevailing situation in the country all for selfish reasons and gaining political mileage without thinking about the impact of their statements on the economy.

“People out there do not know what is truly prevailing in Zambia because of the negative information going round that has portrayed the atmosphere as being hostile with burning markets and protests.

“And this calls for all well-meaning Zambians to help correct the message and clean up the negative impression created by some people across the borders,” he said.

Prophet Kambita said the lies had created a negative impression in the minds of foreigners that Zambia was sliding into civil strife and that safety levels had been compromised.

This, he said, was very bad for tourism and other investment opportunities.

He explained that every Zambian should be patriotic in all their activities especially to help build the country’s image for the future instead of destroying the foundation on which the children’s future is anchored.

Prophet Kambita was in the country to check on his new investments in an emerald mine in Lufwanyama on the Copperbelt where he has partnered with a local mine.

He said he chose to bring his money to Zambia because of the country’s peace and tranquility and appealed for positive information on the prevailing state of affairs to be channeled to the international community.

The clergyman has since called on all Zambians and friends of Zambia to help correct the negative image that had been created about the country to help propel its potential as a preferred investment destination globally.
