GARDEN Park House residents in Lusaka have complained over lack of police post, school and health centre, among other amenities, and have asked area Member of Parliament Elizabeth Phiri to come to their aid as crime is escalating in the area.

In a walk-in interview with Daily Nation, Dennis Simukwanya a resident form Garden Park accused the parliamentarian of deserting the people by failing to fulfil her campaign promises.

Mr Simukwanya said Ms Phiri has never gone back to the people of Garden Park despite the challenges that they were facing, especially over security, no access to clean drinking water, lack of schools and health post.

He said due to lack of police presence in the area cases such as murder, theft and robbery remained unreported, hence PF cadres in the area have formed up a neighborhood watch which was now rendering security to the community and their property.

“We have no school, health post, not even a police post here in Garden Park House and the area MP is very much aware of the situation that people are facing here. We last saw her last year during election campaign and since that time Ms Phiri has never come here to fulfil her campaign promises which is worrying,” said Mr Simukwanya.

Another concerned resident Albert Mwanza said the area lacked learning facilities and most children have ended up being street kids and have become notorious by attacking people in the night.

Mr Mwanza said the only community school which was there failed to sustain itself due to financial constraints and now the children were destitute and languishing in streets.

He appealed to Government and other well-wishers to come on board and help them with school requirements as well as football kit.

“We are appealing to well-wishers to assist us with school requirements for the community school which has been closed due to financial constraints. And we are urging our MP to visit the area which is facing a lot of problems at the moment,’ he said.
