RTSA intensifies patrols to maintain law and order during the holiday

MORE traffic officers have been deployed across the country to ensure that all traffic rules and regulations are obeyed in order to record zero accident, injuries or deaths during the Unity and Heroes holiday, says Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) head of public relations Fredrick Mubanga.

Mr Mubanga said that motorists should follow all traffic rules during the Unity and Heroes holiday as RTSA had intensified patrols countrywide.

He appealed to all road users countrywide to exercise caution and obey all traffic rules and regulations during the long holiday.

Mr Mubanga warned those in the habit of breaking the law that RTSA officers had been deployed across the country to ensure that motorists and indeed all road users followed all traffic rules.  He reiterated that RTSA together with the Zambia Police service traffic section would not tolerate anyone who abrogated the road traffic act and any other traffic regulations. Mr Mubanga explained that the agency was being proactive to ensure that no accident injuries or deaths were recorded during the long holiday. “The RTSA would like to warn those in the habit of breaking the law that our officers have been deployed across the country to ensure that motorists and indeed all road users follow all traffic rules. The RTSA together with the Zambia Police service traffic section will not tolerate anyone who abrogates the road traffic act and any other traffic regulation” he said. He called upon all motorists to ensure that they followed the stipulated speed limits, no drinking while driving, to wear seatbelts, exercise patience and avoid dangerous driving.  “Cyclists and pedestrians should also ensure they follow all traffic rules by using the right lane and that they don’t drink and cycle or walk about the road. RTSA would like to encourage members of the public to report erring drivers on 983 or on our Whatsapp line 0965429499.  ” said Mr Mubanga.
