Visiting Nigerian actor and filmmaker Nkem Owoh famously known as Ukwa last Friday recorded a large turnout of fans and comedy lovers to watch him and several local comics in a show dubbed ‘Ukwa Comedy Explosion.’

The attendance at Lusaka’s Mulungushi Conference Centre was one of the biggest this year and proved the actor is very popular among the Zambian fans. Although the show was not entirely meant for the Nigerian, the fact that a lot of people wanted to see him live in action contributed to a huge turnout.

Organised in collaboration with the Comedians Association of Zambia and many cooperating partners, the show started around 19:30 hours. By 21 hours the local comics had already started entertaining the guests.

The host Dangerous Jorburg was seemingly under pressure to accommodate every comic to perform before the main act. This was because there were a lot of local comics that had come to offer support and were willing to perform.

However, only Shike, Collins the President Zulu and Bob Nkosha ended performing before Ukwa took to the stage. There was great excitement, admiration and anticipation when Ukwa was introduced to the audience.

He stormed the stage dancing to one of his famous songs, ‘Chop yo dollar’ and straight away switched into his act which only lasted for not more than 30 minutes. His main plan was to put up an interactive performance that engaged him in a question and answer session with the audience.

Although a lot of people expected more from the Nigerian, the performance was short and left the audience desiring for more proving they were not fully satisfied.
