ZAMBIAN winger Augustine Mulenga has sealed a three-year contract with South African soccer giants Orlando Pirates.

Pirates announced the signing of the influential midfielder from Zanaco yesterday.

Mulenga is Pirates second Chipolopolo signing in six months after striker Justin Shonga who joined the team from Nkwazi last August.

Club administrative officer Floyd Mbele was confident Mulenga would make an immediate impact at Pirates.

Mbele said the 28-year-old and 2017 Zambian Footballer of the Year had accounted himself well at both club and national team levels.

“We are delighted to have finally secured the services of Augustine. He is an accomplished player who has all the qualities to make an immediate impact at the club,

“I would like to thank Zanaco management for their professionalism during negotiations,” he said.

Mulenga was Zambia’s top scorer at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Morocco after scoring three goals.

And Zanaco FC confirmed Mulenga had left the club for Pirates.

Meanwhile, ZANACO coach Mumamba Numba said Mulenga was a hardworking and disciplined player who will make a positive impact at the South African side.

Numba said the team will miss the player’s services as he was a remarkable player.

“This is one player that has worked so hard to improve his performance at club and national team levels. I will never block any player from career progress,” he said.

Before joining Zanaco, Mulenga was at Nkana FC from 2014 to 2016. He also had a stint at Nkwazi FC.
