MutiChoice, NAMA seal deal for ZAFTA

This was revealed on Wednesday morning during a media breakfast to launch the partnership dubbed, ‘MultiChoice Zambia Film and Television Awards’ held at Southern Sun in Lusaka.

Speaking on behalf of MultiChoice acting managing director, Mrs. Ngoza Kasunga, information and public relations manager Mwiika Malindima said his company’s  support to the awards that have always been organized by NAMA comes out of the passion of growing the film industry in Zambia.

“As a company that is passionate about local content and the development of Zambia’s film and television industry, we are proud to be the headline sponsor of this year’s awards,” Malindima said.

“The Zambia Film and Televison Awards will honour individuals who have stood out in 12 categories whose nominees will be announced today (Wednesday). Our passion at MutiChoice for promoting local content in our market can be demonstrated through the launch of channels like Zambezi Magic on the DStv platform which has seen more Zambian content showcased. We are proud to see that Zambian content is now receiving international recognition through this channel which is telling stories from Southern Africa.”

And representing NAMA, association president Patrick Salubusa said he was happy that a renowned firm with a sound track record on quality production of films and television could partner with his association for the promotion of the industry in Zambia.

Meanwhile, National Arts Council chairperson, Mulenga Kapwepwe who was guest of honour at the event urged artistes and filmmakers to value and grow the partnership which she believes will benefit the film industry in many ways.

The partnership entails that MultiChoice will sponsor and host the ZAFTA awards through a sponsorship package estimated at seven hundred thousand kwacha.
