By MICHAEL MIYOBA

Zambia’s professional mixed martial arts fighter Robert the “Black Tiger” Simbowe says he was robbed of a victory in EFC-93 Lightweight fight against Congolese fighter Boule Godogo at the EFC Performance Institute  in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Simbowe, who was disqualified for using an elbow in the second minute of the third round said he didn’t deserve to be disqualified because he did nothing wrong.

“We are disappointed that they robbed us. It should have been no-contest or something because I was going to win the fight. Even the commentators said that it was unfair,” Simbowe said.

He said he will have to engage in another fight as soon as possible to bounce back from the disappointing disqualification in the EFC-93 fight.

“We need a fight as soon as possible to bounce back because we are still in shape and we did a lot of work for the fight. We don’t want that work to go to waste what so we have to request for another fight in a month or two,” he said.

Simbowe, who was put under pressure in the first round recovered to dominate the second and third round before he was disqualified.

He said he was happy with the way he handled Godobo.

Meanwhile, Ziko “the Gorilla” Makenge claimed the welterweight title after beating South African fighter Martin van Staden in the main event of the EFC-93.

The co-main event of the evening saw Igeu Kabesa, who is considered by many to be the best wrestler on the continent make his return memorable by beating Ashley Calvert.

And Given Majuba’s hope to continue his momentum in the welterweight category suffered a setback following defeat to HP van Staden while Peace ’X’ Nguphane picked his consecutive win after outshining the highly experienced Bruno ‘The Major” Mukulu.
