Brace yourselves for hardships -Lusambo

BY GIDEON NYEWNDWA
Zambians should brace themselves for more consequences that come with changing government, Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo has said.
Mr Lusambo said there was always going to be consequences that come with a change of government and Zambians should prepare themselves for more especially that the IMF conditions had taken effect.
He said Zambians should brace themselves for more because the UPND government was a try and error government because they did not have proper strategies on how they could run the country and that was why they were trying anything to see what can work or not and hurting Zambians in the process.
Mr Lusambo said Zambians were already going through hard times with the harsh economic situation that the country was facing some of which were adverse effects of Covid 19 but added that things have got worse with increased fuel prices.
He said removing subsidies on fuel and electricity was wrong because that was the only way Zambians were benefiting from the natural resources that the country has through the subsidies that the government was paying after they export minerals like copper.
Mr Lusambo said the money that the government raises was supposed to be channeled to the people by cushioning the burden.
“That is not the government’s money, it’s the people’s money he said,” he said.
He said that as a government that was elected to serve the people of Zambia the UPND government should sacrifice for the people that was the reason why PF rejected the IMF conditions.
Mr Lusambo said the new government should learn to put the people of Zambia first in all the decisions that they made if the people start to complain they could be kicked out of government sooner than they imagined.
“The people of Zambia are the bosses and government should learn to put them first because they will be kicked out if the masses complain,” he said.
