TOURNAMENT star striker Fashion Sakala says he will put in his best to help Zambia display a good performance against South Africa in the semi-final match of the under-20 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Speaking after Zambia booted out Egypt from the tournament race with a 3-1 beating last Saturday at National Heroes Stadium, Fashion said the team was playing as a unit and set to achieve the target.

He was happy to have contributed a goal during the match against Egypt.

“I am happy that I again helped my team record victory. It was not an easy game but we stayed focused and did according to the coaches’ instructions,” he said.

Fashion said he will continue working hard and not be contented by his performance in each game.

“My desire is to improve in each game. I hope for a good performance in the semi-final. I am focused and with the coordination from the team, Zambia will surely achieve more,” he said.

Zambia’s most talked goal-poacher has a three year contract with top Russian side Spartak Moscow.

Meanwhile, Zambian coach Beston Chambeshi said he fielded in a strong side against Egypt despite Zambia having already qualified to the semi-final to ensure the rhythm is not disturbed ahead of the semi-final.

“I am happy with the win. It wasn’t an easy game playing Egypt because they have a good side and coach. I know they wanted to collect maximum points but we have come out victors,” he said.

Chambeshi said the team will not be overwhelmed by the Group stage performance because they have a tough task ahead.

And Egypt coach Gamel Abdelaziz said he regrets the teams’ failure to win the first two games against Mali and Guinea.

“It is unfortunate that we did not get the much needed maximum points. The team played well in the first half but in second half, Zambia came back strong and equalised, causing Egypt to open up,” he said.

Zambia finished on top of Group A with nine points and 10 goals. The junior Chipolopolo face an uphill battle against South Africa in the semi-final with kick-off time at 18.00 hours.
