ZESCO United’s nine game unbeaten streak was finally ended yesterday following a shocking 1-0 loss to Prison Leopards in Kabwe.

Striker David Obash scored a penalty as Prison Leopards shocked the Ndola giants to snatch the three points.

Zesco, the pre-match favourites struggled to find the back of the net despite having dominated play.

However, Prison Leopards, who had recorded four defeats and one draw in the previous five fixtures were able to hold on to give the Ndola outfit their third defeat of the season.

Speaking after the final whistle, Zesco United assistant coach Tennant Chilumba attributed the defeat to lack of focus from his boys.

Chilumba, who denied allegations of Zesco  United being complacent said the Ndola side were unlucky because Prison Leopards needed the win more based on how good they played.

For Prison Leopards coach Lameck Banda, the victory over the league leaders will motivate the Kabwe outfit as they embark on a journey to survive relegation.

The defeat in Kabwe ended Zesco’s hopes to reclaim a four-points lead at the summit of the Super League table.

Zesco remain on top of the Super League table with 36 points, one point ahead of second-placed Red Arrows who humiliated FC Muza 4-1 on Saturday in Mazabuka.

After the win over Zesco, Prison Leopards, propelled to 17 points on the 18-team FAZ Super League table, second from bottom.
