THE Zambia Army Military Police has joined the Zambia Police in tracing Lieutenant Nigel Mwaba who is a prime suspect in the ab-duction and murder of Dr. Tasila Tembo.
Zambia Army Commander, Lieutenant General William Sikazwe is saddened that one of his officers is a major suspect in the gruesome murder of Dr. Tembo, who was Ministry of Health deputy director technical services and deputy spokesperson.
General Sikazwe said officers take oath to protect innocent citizens and the country’s sovereignty.
He said it was disheartening that even after taking oath, his officer is alleged to have gone against the oath to brutally take away a life.
General Sikazwe has further assured the public that the Army military police is doing everything possible to help civil police in locating the sus-pect who has been absent without official leave since October 26, 2020.
He also assured that the Army will allow the process of justice to take its course once investigations are done.
General Sikazwe has since sent a message of condolences to the family of the late Dr Tembo.
This is according to a statement by Zambia Army Spokesperson, Colonel Cynthia Chimpusa.
Meanwhile, the late Dr Tembo has been put to rest.
Acting Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed, saying she was buried yesterday.
Mr. Mwale said this follows a post-mortem which was conducted yesterday. – ZNBC
