THE construction of Mansa District Hospital will significantly decongest Luapula Provincial Referral Centre, the district commissioner James Nyenjele has said.

Mr Nyenjele confirmed to the Daily Nation that works on the hospital were progressing smoothly.

He explained that Mansa General Hospital was currently congested due to the high number of patients it was receiving from all the districts in the province.

He said the construction of the hospital was part of Government’s efforts to provide better health care in the district.

“Again, we are happy with President Edgar Lungu for giving us a district hospital. This confirms his commitment to deliver quality health care to the people of Mansa district and Luapula Province at large,” he said.

He explained that the hospital would greatly help in saving lives.

“The development is also in line with Government’s development agenda of responding to the people’s needs in the country.”

And Mr Nyenjele said Government would not listen to people who were trying to distract it from delivering to the people.

“As Government we will not listen to some sections of society that are trying to distract us from delivering economic development which we promised the people of Zambia,” said Mr Nyenjele.
