THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) is no match to UPND for them to claim that only expelled PF member, Chishimba Kambwili has the political muscle and stamina to beat the ruling party in the 2021 elections, UPND secretary-general Stephen Katuka has charged.

NDC spokesperson Erick Chanda announced that Mr Kambwili would run for the republican presidency on the NDC ticket in 2021, on the pretext that he was the only one with the political muscle and stamina to beat the PF in that election.

Mr Katuka said that it was not up to the NDC to say who the best candidate was to unseat PF in the 2021 elections.

He reiterated that the NDC claims did not affect the UPND in any way and the statement was hindered on self-praise.

Mr Katuka said that he could not even comment much on the NDC claims as they were no competition to them.

“It is not for them to judge who is the best candidate, they are selling their candidate. That does not affect us in any way. That is talk by them. They are not even our competitors so why waste time talking about them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Katuka also said that it was complete nonsense for anyone to insinuate that Mr Hichilema was performing a ritual when he kissed the Mongu- Limulunga road because he almost lost his life on that road.

Mr Katuka challenged people who were condemning Mr Hichilema’s stunt to share with the nation if they had passed through what the UPND leader experienced after the Mongu incident.

He said that even other leaders such as the first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda and former South African President, Nelson Mandela had their places of detention turned into national monuments.

Meanwhile, Mr Katuka insisted that Mr Hichilema was released from incarceration because he had done nothing wrong during the Mongu incident.
