Multichoice Zambia donates decoders to UTH children’s wing

MULTICHOICE Zambia has donated 10 GOtv decoders equipped with a one-year full subscription each to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) children’s hospital.As part of its ongoing festive campaign, the donation is aimed at sharing the joy of the festive season with the children and their caregivers.MultiChoice Zambia Managing Director, Leah Kooma, said the institution understood that being in hospital over the festive period and after could be a difficult time for patients – especially children.“We hope that through this donation children may delight in some of the exciting content available and that in some way bring a smile to their faces and that of their parents or family members who are helping to look after them in the hospital.“These children, as patients in the hospital, are confined to the wards so it is our hope that the access they will have to entertainment and other children’s content will help to cheer them, their families and medical support teams up,” Ms Kooma said during the donation.She reiterated that MultiChoice would continue its investments in the communities in which it operated, through entertainment, enterprise and economic development as we celebrate enriching Zambian lives.Speaking when he received the donation, University Teaching Hospitals, Children’s Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent Musaku Mwenechanya said children had the right information particularly on health-related issues and that the donation provides an appropriate medium for this dissemination “We are very grateful to MultiChoice Zambia for this thoughtful gesture as it will go a long way in helping hospitalized children by providing audio-visual stimulation which is an important ingredient of recovery as well as general child development,” said Dr Mwenechanya said.In July MultiChoice Zambia donated critical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and supplies worth K225, 000 to the Surgical Society of Zambia (SSZ) to help the country with the fight against Covid-19 and strengthen its response efforts.
