A 28-YEAR-OLD woman narrated before a Local Court in Lusaka that her husband told her to go and never come back home after she told him on phone to book a Taxi because labour had started.

This is in a case in which Phoebe Namukoko of Chunga compound sued her husband, Francis Chipongwe, 31, of Matero compound for reconciliation after separating for a day.

The two got married in 2015 and have three children.

Namukoko told Senior Court Magistrates Miyanda Banda, Pauline Newa and Ronnie Shafwensha at Matero Local Court that she sued Chipongwe because last week when she was in labour she phoned him and told him that he should book a Taxi but he responded that she should go and never come back home.

She explained that she went to clinic but after she gave birth she found that Chipongwe has changed the locks and that his mother told her on phone that they don’t want her because there is no sex in the house.

‘’I had to look for men with a grinder to cut the locks and I stayed without food or soap in the house for four days,’’ said Namukoko. In defence, Chipongwe said that he was upset because Namukoko told her that labour has started but after he booked a Taxi she said she was fine.

He explained that he left a K100 and got the phone number of a taxi driver and that when she called him at 14 hours he said she already told him she was fine and that he cut the phone. ‘’I changed the locks because Namukoko’s relatives came to fight me and they said that they found a man for her,’’ said Chipongwe.

Chipongwe said that he took Namukoko to her parents and that he can’t get her back because he already sued her for divorce in another court in Matero. The court said that even if it advised, things can’t work since Chipongwe said that he had already sued for divorce. The court ruled a failed reconciliation.
