ECL pledges to unlock potential of vulnerable people

By SILUMESI MALUMO

FORMER Republican President Edgar Lungu has pledged to help the vulnerable people to unlock their potential.

The former Head of State said he will ensure a number of people especially in the rural parts of the country are given necessary resources which can help to sustain their wellbeing.

Mr Lungu said a number of people have potential but the lack of resources has hindered them from progressing. He said he will ensure that those facing such challenges receive support so that they are able to participate in economic activities of the country.

He said he has helped some residents of Chief Mungule in Chibombo to revamp their aquaculture.

Mr Lungu has also helped the residents by putting up a school infrastructure as well as a hammer mill.

“I have always realised and accepted that, I am who I am today because of having gone through life. Having gone through life has taught me that nothing is more powerful than humanity.

Humanity has a lot of potential locked in there. All of us have a lot of good but only when we unlock this potential, will we see the man and woman God created.

“But what are we doing as mankind to help one another to open this potential?” he asked.

Mr Lungu said “As a foundation we identified that some people were involved in fish farming but they stopped due to challenges. So we have come in with our technical expertise to see how we can help so that they can produce fish sustainably.”  He said he wants to ensure that the fish farming project is sustainable.

He also said he will help those interested in the horticulture sector.

Mr Lungu said doing so, will enable the poverty levels to be reduced significantly.
