Stop feeding Zambians GMO mealie meal – Kalaba

THE UPND government has, with clear intention compromised the health of Zambians and the safety of the country’s mealie meal products by offloading the imported Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) mealie meal for consumption by citizens against the National Biosafety Agency (NBA) laws which prohibit GMOs in Zambia, Harry Kalaba has said.

On Friday, the UPND government, through Vice President Mutale Nalumango, announced that the GMO mealie meal being imported from South Africa was safe for consumption and that the product should therefore not be demonised. 

But Mr Kalaba, the Citizens First (CF) president said it was clear that the UPND government under President Hakainde Hichilema had started killing Zambians slowly by forcing them to begin consuming GMO mealie meal thereby breaching the country’s laws that prohibit the importation of GMOs.
