Govt procures desks for schools in Manyinga

 Government has procured about 128 school desks at a total cost of K100, 000 to cushion the shortage of furniture in Manyinga district of North Western Province.

Meanwhile, government has completed the construction of a 1×2 classroom block at New Loloma Secondary School in the district.

Manyinga constituency Member of Parliament, Robert Lihefu and District Commissioner, Queen Manela, confirmed the development to the Daily Nation.

Mr Lihefu said the funds used to procure the desks were part of the 2017 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“Yes, desks have been procured to cushion the shortage in the district because this has been the major challenge,” said Mr Lihefu.

Mr Lihefu implored the community to support every developmental programmes that government initiated.

He said politics was long gone stressing that it was time to develop the district and the nation at large.

Meanwhile, Manyinga District Commissioner Queen Manela, has restated government’s commitment towards improving education standards in the country especially in rural areas. She said government was aware of the pupil-desk challenge faced by most schools hence the move to procure the furniture.

And Manyinga District Education Board Secretary, Kenneth Solochi, said the procurement of the desks will reduce the pupil-desk ratio in the district.

“Apart from that, it will also help learners concentrate in class which will result in them attaining good examination results, “ Mr Solochi added.
