ALL houses in Kabwata will be connected to the main water reticulation system, says Kabwata Ward Six Councilor Longa Chiboboka. Mr. Chiboboka told the Daily Nation in an interview in Lusaka that currently works were going on to lay new PVC pipes to replace the old system under the joint Bombay drainage project between the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) and the Zambian government.

“We assured people of Kabwata Ward Six that every household will be connected to tap water and we have been doing a complete overhaul by laying PVC pipes to replace the old system because we promised that the whole Kabwata Constituency and Kabwata Ward Six in particular, will be connected to the main water reticulation system. We have delivered on our campaign promise.

“I can only appeal to the residents to safeguard this gift from the Millennium Challenge Corporation through the central government. This is the real development that we promised our electorates. This is happening and it is at a huge cost amounting to US$455 million,”
Mr. Chiboboka said.

He urged residents not to damage the infrastructure, especially the water reticulation system which was passing through the township to ensure they did not build on top of the system.

He said anyone wishing to build or extend any infrastructure should get proper advice from the Lusaka City Council Planning Unit.

“Together with President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and the area Member of Parliament we have delivered,” he said.

And Mr. Chiboboka said works on the section of the Bombay drainage in Kabwata Ward Six had reached an advanced stage

“In terms of the drainage system, on the section between St Patrick’s School and Nationalist Road, the culverts have been laid in the valleys and I think I can safely say that 65 percent of the works have been done and looking at the completion period I think we are on course,

“This is a happy moment and we are hopeful that come the next rainy season the issue of the drainage system and flooding that we have been having in Kabwata will be a thing of the past. Like we promised before the elections, we have proved that we are a working and action-oriented Government,”
Mr. Chiboboka said”
