21,000 VILLAGERS TO BENEFIT FROM SOCIAL CASH TRANSFER

MORE than 21,000 vulnerable people in Bangweulu Constituency of Samfya District will next year benefit from the social cash transfer scheme, says Bangweulu Member of Parliament Anthony Kasandwe.

Mr. Kasandwe stated that 3,000 people have benefited from the social cash transfer scheme which had helped them to improve their lives.

He said in a telephone interview that the figure was expected to increase next year.

The parliamentarian said the gesture to increase the figure was aimed at ensuring that more people benefited from the program.

He said his constituency was one of the poorest and that there was need to empower people through various programs.

“My constituency is one of the poorest in Samfya District, and Government wants to ensure that all people benefit from the social cash transfer scheme,” Mr Kasandwe stated.

He said that the Patriotic Front (PF) Government had a vision of ensuring that the plight of vulnerable people was well taken care of.

Mr. Kasandwe noted that it was the duty of the Government to ensure that the living standards of people in rural areas was enhanced.

He urged the people of Bangweulu Constituency to make use of the money wisely so that it would help them to empower their lives.

Mr Kasandwe added that the money should work according to its intended purpose so that no one is left behind.
