Mr Mwanza said in an interview that doing so would assist in reducing cyber security threats in the country.

He said with the increased cyber related crimes, people needed to have vast knowledge on how this vice could be dealt with.

He said the potential risks associated with cyber-attacks had amplified with the increasing digitalisation of businesses and government services.

Mr Mwanza called on the government to ensure a robust cyber security strategy in universities to help maintain a continuity of operations and minimise the potential for costly interruptions.

“It will only be right if we have a lot of trained individuals for the science who can be experts in the field and enthusiastic of how impactful cyber security is as of today,” he said.
