It’s always a pleasure to meet women in leadership.

It’s always a pleasure to meet women in leadership. I’m glad to let you in on a light moment I shared with female Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Zambia led by Congolese Ambassador to Zambia, Her Excellency,
Konji Maloba Chantal, who visited my office this morning.

The others included Ambassador Pirjo Suomelo-Chowdhury from Finland, U.N Resident Coordinator Coumba Mar Gardio, Ambassador Charity Angelina Charamba from Zimbabwe, Ambassador Hawa H. Mohamed from Somalia, High Commissioner Flora Igandu Karugu from Kenya, Ambassador Anna Maj Hultgard from Sweden, Ambassador Anne Wagner-Mitchell from Germany and Ambassador Bronagh Carr from Ireland.

We discussed a number of issues affecting the girl Child and the rights of women across the world and agreed that more women need to be in decision making positions for efficient and effective contribution to development.
We made it clear that as women, we’re not asking for favors because we know that women must get leadership roles on merit. We discussed the struggles women go through to progress with the demand to work extra hard to be acknowledged.

Sometimes it may be discouraging but I would like to encourage all of you women not to give up in order to make the world a better place.

Challenges facing women are the same in many parts of the world. The key is to unite as a force against all sorts of gender injustices.

W.K. Mutale-Nalumango
Acting President of the Republic of Zambia.
