THE rehabilitation of the road network infrastructure in Kaputa will improve the agriculture sector and other businesses in the constituency, Member of Parliament Maxas Ng’onga has said.

Mr. Ng’onga said Kaputa  has serious challenges with the road infrastructure in the area, and that all the three main roads which were leading to the district were in bad shape especially after the rains that the country had experienced during the last rainy season. He named the main roads affected as Mporokoso to Kaputa, Mununga to Kaputa, and Chienge to Kaputa.

Mr. Ng’onga said the district had challenges transporting the goods they produced out of the constituency and with importing goods such as agriculture produce and other items the local people needed.

“Kaputa has challenges both in transporting the goods that are produced in and out of Kaputa to other marketing areas and also supplying both requisites such as agriculture, groceries or food into the constituency because of these bad rural road networks,” he said.

He said that the poor road network infrastructure in the district was one of the many challenges that the people of Kaputa wanted to express to the government, and he was grateful that the government had plans that all the three main roads had been included in the Link Zambia 8000 road project by the Road Safety Agency.

Mr. Ng’onga said he was happy that the Patriotic Front government was also working towards improving the electricity power voltage in his constituency which was low.

“The other challenge which is in Kaputa is basically the challenge of electricity power voltage.  This is an area where power comes from Musonda Falls which is in Luapula Province in Mansa and the district being at the furthest end we receive the lowest voltage,” Mr. Ng’onga said.

He said the amount of power the district was receiving was very low for industrial investment in the area and there was need to improve the power voltage in order to improve the industrial investment.
