KAUNDA Square residents in Lusaka have called on the police to intensify night patrols to flush out a group of boys who call themselves “The Fluffy Boys” who have continued to terrorize residents at night.

Speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation, a resident Kabwe Musonda said that the group had been breaking into homes and beating up people during the night.

Ms Kabwe said the area was no longer safe and needed help get rid of the group.

She said that the residents expected the police to cage the young criminals terrorizing the area.

“We are living in fear of these boys called The Fluffy Boys. They have been beating up people and even breaking into houses; it’s really not safe in this place,” she lamented.

Another resident Mercy Banda explained that the residents tried to protect themselves but the gang was too strong for them and thus the call for police intervention.

Ms Banda said The Fluffy Boys often hid in the trees and attacked any person seen walking alone in the dark.

“The police should bring these criminals to book, there is no way that they can continue to beat and attack people like that, it’s not right,” she said.

Meanwhile, area councillor Sylvester Mulenga charged that he was aware that his ward had high crime levels.

He said that plans to engage the police and take other safety measures were underway and that residents did not need to worry.

“Am aware of the high crime levels in my area. I received a report concerning those boys called The Fluffy Boys who have been beating up people. There is no need to worry because we have engaged the police and they will ensure that sanity is restored in this area,” he said.
