UNEMPLOYMENT should not be an excuse for young people to resort to alcohol abuse, says Family Tree in Zambia general overseer Clever Mambalakata

Mr. Mambalakata said that there were many other positive areas in which young people could engage themselves instead of involving themselves on social vises which spelt doom for their future.

He took a swipe at those supporting alcohol abuse by youths because there were no jobs for them.

He said that such comments should not be entertained because it will only encourage many young people to continue abusing alcohol. “My dear youths don’t waste your life on alcohol, because any person that is in the habit of abusing alcohol will do the same when they get a job,” he said

Mr. Mambalakata further advised the youths to refuse to be used as tools for political violence by greedy politicians.

“Politicians who use you as a way to show their anger over something by buying you alcohol are selfish and do not have your best interests at heart,

“It is important to watch what you do today, because you don’t know what you will be tomorrow and people might have their eyes on the ground and remind you when you least expect it,” he said

He said that a good leader is known by what they inspire in the people that they lead.

“We want to see leaders that are inspiring positive behavior, social change and good morals in our society, the kind that will come out to condemn the violence and any bad behavior among the youth,” he said.
