PF PRODS MEMBERS TO VERIFY DETAILS

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

THE Patriotic Front (PF) has urged all members to take advantage of the extension of the voter registration verification exercise to verify their particulars and ensure that everything on their voter’s cards is correct.

Copperbelt PF acting chairman, Bernard Zulu, said this would ensure that unnecessary problems were avoided as the country goes to the polls on August 12, this year. The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) started the process of physical verification of voters on March, 29 to April 2, 2021.

But due to stakeholders’outcry, the ECZ extended the physical inspection of the provisional register of voters by five days from April 3 to April 7, this year. “The extension should be promoted as it has several advantages such as if the registered voter wants to change their polling stations, they were able to,” Mr Zulu said. Meanwhile, Mr Zulu applauded the central committee of the party for having unanimously endorsed President Edgar Lungu as the preferred candidate for the position of party President at the forth coming general conference.

He said the party in the province had therefore reaffirmed its already made decision to support the candidature of the head of state on grounds that he had provided quality leadership. He said President Lungu deserved the endorsement because he had demonstrated humility and maturity when dealing with national issues.

Mr Zulu said this had helped him promote peace and unity in the country. “The head of state has embraced those who insult him being the republican president because his desire to maintain peace in the country. “We however know that this is not a sign of weakness but a sign of quality leadership and it is for this reason that all party structures and the general membership in the province want to reaffirm its already made decision to support the President,” he said. Mr Zulu assured the head of state that the party on the Copperbelt would always remain loyal because it had confidence and trust in his quality leadership.
