Sesheke to get improved water supply

THE construction of a modern water abstraction point targeting 1, 500 new connections and supply of water metres at the Western Water and Sanitation Company (WWSC) in Sesheke has reached 45 per cent.

Sesheke District Company Manager Mukela Subulwa says the project is aimed at reducing breakdowns during operation hours and the supply of water and sanitation improvement in the district.

Mr Subulwa disclosed that, the project is a government project with financial support from the African Development Bank (ADB) awarded to China Railways Construction Engineering group company limited.

He said that the putting up of the modern water abstraction point at the Zambezi river will accommodate two pumps running and one on standby.

Mr Subulwa also disclosed that the construction of a modern treatment plant which will accommodate vital treatment processes like coagulation, flocculation, segmentation and chemical treatment is under way.

He said alongside the project is the rehabilitation of the two old elevated tanks and construction of a new additional tank and the project also includes construction of a modern staff office block for the officers in the district and the construction of five (5) modern fee paying ablution blocks.

Mr Subulwa said the five modern fee paying ablution blocks to be constructed at designated sites within the district will be handed over to the Local government once completed.

The treatment plant will also accommodate one ground tank and one balancing elevated tank which will increase capacity at the treatment plant in order to supply the two tanks to be drilled at Sichinga area to enhance water network system across the whole town.
