THE Patriotic Front youth wing has congratulated Sifiso Mtsweni, the African National Congress youth leader who visited Zambia recently, on his appointment as executive chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency in South Africa.

PF national youth chairperson Steven Kampyongo, who is Homes Affairs minister, said this in a statement to Mr Mtsweni yesterday.

“On behalf of the Patriotic Front Youth Wing, I wish to congratulate Comrade Sifiso Mtsweni on his appointment as the executive chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency in South Africa,” he said.

Mr Kampyongo said the appointment demonstrated the confidence that the South African leadership had in Mr Mtsweni.

“This is an awesome responsibility and demonstrates confidence by the leadership that Comrade Mstweni has what it takes to represent and deliver for the youth of South Africa,” he said.

Mr Kampyongo said it was gratifying to note that the youth of Africa beyond the borders of South Africa would be inspired by Mr Mtsweni’s commitment and loyalty to his party, the ANC.

“We look forward to closer working relations between ourselves as PF Youth League and ANC Youth League in representing the agenda for a social-economically empowered youth in our respective countries,” Mr Kampyongo said.

Mr Mtsweni, prior to his appointment, was African National Congress member of the executive committee and provincial chairperson for Western Cape.

He was recently invited by the PF as one of the South African ANC and Zimbabwean ZANU-PF delegations that came to grace the ‘‘Meet the President’’ fund-raising dinner in Lusaka.

They were in Zambia as guests of the Patriotic Front.
