Delayed schools reopening cheer parents

SOME Parents have described government’s decision to delay re-opening of schools due to the cholera outbreak in Lusaka as a blessing in disguise as it will give them enough time to look for school fees and other requirements.

Those talked to in Kitwe said while they were equally saddened by the outbreak of cholera which had claimed over 50 lives so far, the decision by government to delay re-opening of schools would ease the pressure associated with January when parents pay school and tertiary fees. 

A Ms Helen Chimbuka said January had always been a challenging month to most parents with school going children and so government’s decision to delay the re-opening of schools due to the cholera outbreak, would help every parent to prepare adequately.

“The outbreak of cholera is really a sad development and we hope the situation can be brought to normal so that people can start going by their business normally.

“Yes, it is a blessing in disguise because it will give them enough time to look for school fees and other requirements by the time schools re-open,” Ms Chimbuka said.

Ms Chimbuka said parents should use the extended period to look for money for school fees and other requirements for their children.

She said parents should not relax and squander the money they find but should ensure they keep the money properly up to the time the schools reopened.
