Former minister questions silence on Kakubo’s scandal

By NATION REPORTER

FORMER Northern Province minister Lazarous Chungu has questioned the silence surrounding the former Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Stanley Kakubo’s financial scandal.

Mr Chungu wondered why the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and other law enforcement agencies have decided to keep quiet on the matter from the time that Mr Kakubo resigned as a minister.

He asked whether Mr Kakubo’s resignation has been taken as enough payment for the alleged corrupt practices which he was involved in.

Mr Chungu has challenged the ACC to update the nation on the matter so that the people can know whether the transaction was genuine or not.

He said it would be sad to see the issue die a natural death especially under a government that had promised to fight both past and present corruption.
