THE Zambian DNA has appealed to President Lungu to remain steadfast in the discharge of his duties even among unfounded attacks from critics.

DNA spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa said President Edgar Lungu had so far demonstrated his tacit commitment to a selfless service to the nation since he was elected in 2015 and should continue to work hard and ignore criticism from sectors that did not have the best intention of the country at heart.

In a statement made available to the Daily Nation, Mr Mulemwa said Zambian DNA was of the view that President Lungu’s critics that had joined forces with those that fell out of favour with the Head of State are only advancing their selfish agendas.

“Since president Lungu ascended to power, he has taken bold and painful but unavoidable decisions for the country such as invocation of Article 31 to curb the acts of lawlessness and sabotage, and his recent timely intervention to curb the escalating spread of Cholera,” Mr Mulemwa said.

He said President Lungu’s conscious directs him to choose the country over his personal comfort.

“As some of us might be aware the president has sacrificed 10   percent of his salary towards empowering the vulnerable le people and also many ordinary Zambians have benefited from the Presidential Empowerment Fund Initiative (PEFI) regardless of their political or religious affiliation,” Mr Mulemwa said.

He said contrary to the assertions of President Lungu’s critics that he gave  a blind eye to wrong doings in Government, he acted whenever he saw anything wrong.

Mr Mulemwa said the governing PF under the leadership of President Lungu had not departed from the pro-poor policies it’s currently implementing as alleged by some Government critics.

He further urged all patriotic Zambians to ignore the sentiments of some politicians, and rally behind President Lungu as he stirs the country to greater heights.
