RAPHAEL NAKACINDA DARES PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

…not to compromise state security, to trust locals

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE Secretary to Cabinet must explain to the nation allegations that President Hakainde Hichilema refused to use State vehicles opting for his personal one and over which he requested security from the American embassy to scrutinise.

Former Minister of Water Development in the PF administration Raphael Nakacinda has charged that what transpired was embarrassing and that foreign dignitaries who attended Tuesday’s inauguration were amused by the act by the new President. He wondered why the new President had chosen America over and above his own people and institutions that he so desired to preside over.

Mr Nakacinda wondered what message President Hichilema was sending to the country’s security agencies and the defence force, when he could not trust them. “How can a President refuse to jump on Zambia’s state vehicles as prescribed? He is exposing the nation badly with his fainted paranoia.

We must differentiate between institutional and personal things,” Mr Nakacinda said. He said regarding the person who escorted the President on the guard of honour, the Police Commissioner at State House, the Inspector General of Police together with Zambia State Intelligence Service needed to explain and know his service number in the Zambia Police Service.
