FNB assures clients over ATM system failure

THE First National Bank (FNB) has restored the network disconnection it experienced on Tuesday which affected its Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

According to the bank’s head of strategic marketing and communications, Clotilda Mulenga, the problem which was faced by FNB ATM machines was not related to fears about the Zambian financial sector.   “We experienced a power system failure on our network that affected some of our ATMs. The problem was not related to fears on the ground regarding the issues pertaining at other banks. “The problem has since been resolved and normal operations have been restored,” he said.

Ms Mulenga said the bank regretted the inconvenience caused to its customers and assure them of FNB’s continued superior service.  On Tuesday, panic engulfed the FNB customers when the bank’s ATM machines stopped functioning as they could not withdraw their money. The customers quickly related the situation to the possession of the Intermarket Bank Zambia Corporation by the Central bank. According to the customers, the ATM machines either had no money in them or had no network.
