Mazabuka residents receive water boost
THE Rotary Club of Kusintha in collaboration with United States based Rotary Club of Fair Oaks Ranch has constructed three water reticulation systems in rural communities of Mazabuka, at a cost of US$72,000.
The water reticulation systems which have been constructed at ChibolyaCommunity School, Sianzala and Chibuyu villages of Mazabuka, consists of boreholes, water tanks, water kiosk stations, ablution blocks with piped water and flushable toilets.
Mazabuka Mayor, Vincent Lilanda said the Rotary Club of Kusintha has over the past year made several contributions in alleviating poverty, improving the education status of people and enhancing people’s health.
Mr Lilanda said this in Sianzala village when he received the water reticulation system for the area and officially handed it over to the community.
And Rotary Club of Kusintha president, Jason Mulaisho said the gesture by the Club was in line with the new dawn administration‘s pledge of keeping and growing a green and sustainable economy.
Mr Mulaisho also pledged support to communities saying this was the core value and spirit of the Rotary Club International.
Meanwhile, Headman Chikanda Munjile of Sianzala Village said after twenty failed boreholes, the area now has a borehole which is not only benefitting people but livestock as well.
Headman Munjile said the community was able to build a water tank for its livestock following the successful completion of the water reticulation system in Sianzala. – ZANIS
