UNITED Progressive Party (UPP) president Saviour Chishimba has claimed that he is being trailed by individuals whom he says have intentions to harm him following his threats to reveal corrupt activities in Government.

Mr. Chishimba told the Daily Nation that his security team pursued individuals who trailed him up to his residence under the pretext that they had gone there to “join the UPP’’.

“I have credible and reliable information about the top-level instructions that have just been issued to harm me, but it shall not work. The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth to identify the weak so that he can show Himself strong on their behalf,” Mr. Chishimba said.

He said the ill-trained agents were taken by surprise when his security team blocked their vehicle and were visibly shaken.

Mr. Chishimba said the UPP’s resolve to expose all corrupt practices and plunder of public resources were out of love for his country with no malice intended.

He also claims that he was aware of the meetings that were being held and attempts to come up with covers for corrupt deals but warned that it was too late because he was resolved to regularize illegal transactions and stop corruption.

“The audio and documentary evidence on many scandals in the upper and lower echelons of Government is overwhelming, but we are not foolish to keep such details in our homes and offices. The fruitless ransacking of my house a couple of months ago must have confirmed to them that we are not amateurs,” he said.

Mr. Chishimba added that the level of corruption in the country was unprecedented and that the culprits would be exposed.

He said the UPP was seriously concerned with the skyrocketing corrupt practices in Government but said his efforts to expose them were not meant to undermine Government ‘‘but a pragmatic call to action against corruption in the nation’’.
