ZAMBIA has earned initial approval on the HIV plan for 2017, says Health Minister Dr Chitalu Chilufya.

The Zambia Country Operation (COP) 2017 plan for HIV programmes has received kudos from the PEPFAR assessment team currently meeting in Washington DC with the Zambian Government.

He said the meetings had been a success and Dr Chitalu observed that with the support of the Zambia Country Operation, Government would set interventions aimed at the control of epidemics.

He said the interventions would include community initiatives such as TEST AND TREAT.

The minister said the PF government remained committed to ensuring the implementation of various models in achieving efficient service delivery.

The just ended Zambia Country Operation meeting provided a platform for both Government and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) teams to plan for the year ahead on various HIV intervention programmes.

The meeting was also attended by U.S. Global AIDS coordinator and US special representative for Global Health Diplomacy, Ambassador Deborah L. Birx, United States Ambassador to Zambia Eric Shultz, Ministry of Health clinical care specialist and HIV programme manager Dr. Chrispin Moyo and Zambian embassy charge d’affaires James Chisenga.
